The Inland Kaikoura Road

We have travelled out to the east coast to the coastal town of Kaikoura. There are two roads we could use and we chose the road least travelled, this road takes us between two mountain ranges through some wonderfully rugged country and out to the coast. The land is very dry, there has been no rain for weeks here, a drought emergency has been declared, Bbqs are off the menu.
