Flamenco For Bella!

We were taken to a Sevillian back-of-beyond bar where the entry ticket cost €3 and was exchanged for a beer as soon as you stepped inside. Claire P. is a regular, she lives across the street, and we were put at a table right in front of the tiny performance space.

There is nothing to compare with flamenco to express the human condition in all its intensity. From the moment the bailarina appeared she was the epitome of tension which suddenly exploded in percussive detonations and movement which were as thrilling as they were shocking. Passion, rage, anguish, beauty, grace and coquettishness were all present and, as a female performer, if there was any doubt of the magnificent power of women, our dancer dispelled it emphatically. And, in this week of Holocaust commemoration recalling how gipsies were also the target of genocide, there could have been no more splendid salute to her people's culture and contribution.

This blip is dedicated to Kendallishere's granddaughter who is learning this art!
