I may have said this last year when the Six Nations Championship got under way, but the beard of the male house sparrow always puts me in mind of the giant Welsh lock forward Jake Ball

Anyway, watching Wales play Italy today lifted my spirits from yesterday's gloom. The world always keeps turning, and the sparrows are always cheeping in the garden.
