The Finnish custom is to build one's cottage so that it "melts" into its environment, and does not make a spectacle of itself. This is noticeable also here in Lapland, where a cottage can be distingushed when something makes its form different from the surroundings. In this case it was the perhaps 70 cm of snow on its roof.
