Winter Lights...
‘Where There is Light’, Gloucester Cathedral
“The exhibition... marks the culmination of events celebrating 20 years of Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS) and features artwork by Gloucestershire based digital arts group, Squidsoup...
Visitors to ‘Where There is Light’ will see the Lady Chapel transformed into an environment where virtual and physical worlds coincide. Visitors become part of the artwork as the light and sound changes around them.” More info here: https://gloucestercathedral.org.uk/spectacular-light-installation.php
A train trip to Gloucester to visit the 1000 year old cathedral, take in the ‘Where There is Light’ exhibition and the life-size Knitivity (a knitted nativity scene, on display until Candlemas, 2nd February, the end of Christmas in the church calendar), listen to a concert by The Tabor Society and have lunch in The Monk’s Kitchen, before a quick whizz around the shops and a train home.
In extras, a record of my visit to the cathedral, including stained glass window reflections, the amazing vaulted cloisters (as seen in Harry Potter!), and inside the light installation, which I’m sure would look much better after dark, and when there weren’t hordes of young children having a ball, ignoring the signs to experience the installation slowly and quietly!
(Having major IT problems, may have to catch-up tomorrow...)
