Shakti in Rasoi

Meet Shakti, one of the very nice Nepalese waiters in our local Indian restaurant, Rasoi, where we went for dinner tonight after a long walk along Diagonal, and the streets above Plaça Francesc Macià, clocking up over 15,000 steps.

We got back from our Seville jaunt early this morning and didn't do much until early afternoon, having been up and out the hotel at 5.00am - we did the planes, trains and automobiles combination, but not in that order. We finished with the train.

As we were leaving the hotel room this morning, we discovered that we’d left our little bag of purchases hanging up on the hook under the bar in the cafe restaurant across the road from the hotel last night.  A quick dash by Bb to see  if It was open, but no luck!  A phone call to the hotel this afternoon confirmed that our plan B had worked and that someone from reception had picked it up and will keep it there till Claire P pops by to get it and she’ll post it back here to us.

The comings and going of the barrio that we found out when we were out walking this afternoon: *our local much-loved Frankfurter is indeed going to open up after a year of complete renovations and apparently it’s only going to be a renovation of the restaurant, not a demolishment of the whole building, which Is what we’d heard. The restaurant next door to Sanabres is open on Sunday lunchtime, so we can try it without feeling disloyal to Sanabres!  The rice-speciality restaurant, owned by the same people as the old Tertulia is open every day of the year from 13.00 to midnight. We popped in for a card to find it had been completely renovated and our next door neighbour and son were having lunch there and said it was ‘muy bueno’. One of our very old recently-renovated favourite places from Bb’s MBA days, Can Tejada, is now open on Sunday lunchtimes, looks French in style, specialises in oysters and the chef is just back from running an award-wining restaurant in Paris.  Sunday lunchtimes are looking up!

*We’re sure that will hear different things about the plans for the Frankfurter during this year. The only thing we know for sure is that the owner Salva has retired.
