Auf Wiedersehen
After over 1300 days, the moment of shame has come.
This column at the entrance to Ottobeuren was financed with the help of the EU rural funds pot, coordinated by the Bavarian State Government who decide what goes where. In this case for help marketing our area known as the Allgäu.
One might think the colour for the Allgäu, the cow richest part of Germany best known for milk & cheese might be green rather than Europe blue. Until the Industrial Revolution imported from the UK, the area was known as "The blue Allgäu" as it was the largest area of flax production. A man with vision, Carl Hirnbein, saw what was happening, threw himself into learning all about cheese making in Holland & Switzerland, brought it to the area along with encouraging tourism & building of the railways.
In the extra the sign on the side, plus the side of the column we will be showing when Scotland becomes 28th sovereign state to join the EU organisation.
So long, farewell.............
