A lonesome pine
High on Ranmore Common stands this pine tree. It is in quite an exposed spot but it seems to be thriving. This view is looking south from the North Downs towards Leith Hill. There was a cold breeze up there so I didn’t stay long.
It was a bit warmer more than thirty years ago when my son and daughter organised a surprise birthday picnic for me at this spot. I was astonished when I was taken there to find many friends gathered, and a feast laid on. Goodness knows how they had managed to organise everything without me finding out, but producing such a crazy event was typical of daughter Anna. I still miss her.
