How cruel is nature

A baby Sparrow fell out of the nest at my feet today and when I looked up I saw this Boomslang çoming out of the nest after it. I sadly couldn't' save the bird - I was a bit nervous, but ran and got my camera! I kept apologising to the parents for not being able to save their baby who were frantically trying to attack the snake.
How sad to see this happening, but I guess that's nature. I have added two extras.
I felt totally drained...I managed to chase the snake out of the garden...I did phone the snake catcher but he wasn't nearby.
I hope this photo doesn't offend anyone, but that's how nature works...

After the terrible heat of the past few days, the weather has cooled and we are having some welcome rain - long may it continue.
