Sun and Light
Another glorious day of sunlight and crisp snow. The recent minus temperatures have crisped up the snow and laid a coating of ice where the water was previously open. Here that coating of ice is reflecting the sun with full force.
Earlier in the day I was splitting wood because we have the woodburner pumping a lot of heat into the house on these chilly mornings. I did some running repairs on our tiled stove. Some of the mortar between the firebricks has fallen away so I filled the gaps with fireproof mortar.
Then we were out for a walk where I took this photos after a certain amount of slogging through deep snow.
As it got dark we headed into town to see the film Sami Blood. This is the second time we have seen this film, made 4 years ago. It has won many prizes and is beautifully filmed. Wikipedia has an excellent entry on the film, especially the "Background" section.
Jan (HarlingDarling) spent a large part of the day producing 3 sorts of gluten free bread but you can read about that on her blip!
The day ended with a fairly modest northern lights display but it's the first one this winter so we were happy to see that green arc across our sky.
