This was a Berberis with lifting roots
I couldn’t easily show the roots, this was second best. It was way too big in height and width but the birds liked it, a colourful plant with tasty berries for them. It became too big for me to prune and John just didn’t get round to it until he spotted the roots a couple days ago. He was out there this morning with the chainsaw before the wind pulled it out, no doubt it would end up across the drive way. We hope it will sprout new shoots although there is another of a similar size elsewhere in the garden.
After a good start the day the dreaded wind is now howling, we are sheltered here, can’t imagine what it’s like in the real world.
