Portland's own "Gypsy Bridge"
I have learned the term "Recce" from WalkingMarj, who goes on these adventures prior to leading walks through the English countryside. Today Sue and I went on a Recce for the Red Rebel Brigade, a group of climate activists looking for good places to stage tableaux to bring attention to climate.
Sue has lived in Portland for the past 43 years and led me to places I've never seen before, including a bridge that looks like a miniature version of the Gypsy Bridge in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, made famous by Marknlizzie.
Our skies were dramatic in a Leigh-on-Sea way, and we found plenty of places for the Reds to work.
In other news, we now have a firm commitment of a venue, the First Unitarian Church in Portland, for a reading of Donna Hayes' play about people killed by Portland Police. Auditions are now scheduled for March 7. Stay tuned!
