Catbells & Skiddaw
We decided it was a perfect morning for a walk. Drove to Hawes End and walked over Catbells, where we bumped into O, a guest who was spending a week camping up here (very brave!). We then went over Maiden Moor, High Spy, and came down via the mine buildings, then back along the shore. Covered about 11.5 miles.
When we got home Deb received a phone call from her Mum's neighbour. She had decided to walk out into her front garden without zimmer frame or even walking stick, fallen, and smacked her head. The paramedics had been (thanks to two schoolgirls who were passing and dialled 999) and she was at Blackpool a&e. We dived into the car and drove straight down. Found her on a bed in a corridor in an a&e dept designed for 30 people, where 86 were waiting on beds in corridors to be treated. They were concerned that she had broken her eye socket, but x-rays showed that eye socket, and hips were fine.
We were surprised that they didn't keep her in for observation, as the whole left side of her face was purple, but they discharged her just after midnight. So we had a night down there. It's clear something has to be arranged urgently.
