The wind had dropped so we were able to get to the top of Table Mountain.
Our free meagre inclusive breakfast took over an hour to be served and we get the feeling they're taking so long in the hope that we will give up and go elsewhere. Little do they know that we will never give in and never give up.
Getting a bus to the bottom of Table Mountain was a bit of a nightmare as there was no direct route but with some determination and a fair bit of walking we made it by eleven.
We used the selfserve ticket machine to beat the queues and tickets in hand we headed for the cable car. The cable car was great fun as the interior of the circular car revolved as it moved upward. The top of Table Mountain is 1,067 metres above sea level and we were so lucky that the wind had died down and there was no cloud to obscure the views over Cape Town. We spent most of the morning walking around top of the mountain enjoying the views on all sides. We were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of the brown furry rodents that live there. A coffee at the café on top of the World was very welcome before we took the spinning cable car back to earth. An expensive Uber ride got us to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where we wandered in the gardens for an hour or so and enjoyed the stunning views of the distant mountains from the canopy walk. They are holding a concert in the Park on Sunday but unfortunately it is a hip hop band we've never heard of so we will be giving that a  miss. After a cup of tea and a nice chunk of chocolate cake in the café it was another expensive Uber ride back to town. It appears that Uber's are expensive for long distances but having said that there was no other way to get to or from the Botanical Gardens.
Back home at the Backpackers we got ready for the service at the Synagogue. It was a shame that the email details which I'd sent to register had not been dealt with correctly and we were not on the attendees list. The man on the door was most apologetic and sympathetic but at the end of the day he would not let us in. There was nothing else for it but to drown our sorrows with a glass of wine and an evening meal.
