A January stroll on Bellingham Bay

One of my favorite local spots in the summertime is Bellingham's beautiful Taylor Dock, a quarter mile boardwalk spanning Bellingham Bay that connects the Fairhaven District with beautiful Boulevard Park. On a good day, you can spot a few seals playing in the water, and starfish doing what starfish do, affixed to their rocks.

At the Boulevard Park end of the boardwalk, you are rewarded for your efforts with a coffee shop offering sweets, and pastries, and yummy hot and cold lattes, cappucinos and more. You can sit in front of their fireplace (in the winter), and fortify yourself for the return trip. By late afternoon, the sunsets can be spectacular, particularly in the summer. Even though today's stroll was on a very cold January afternoon, the winter sky and blue waters of the bay were nonetheless stunning.
