Storm watch

Storm Ciara blew through with a vengeance today and I watched through the front porch as the squally part of the storm attacked our neighbourhood around 3.30pm. We lost power shortly after this. There was no sign of it returning by 5pm so we decamped to my Mum’s house a few miles away to finish cooking the dinner and to eat it with her (she was due to come to us anyway) ! It worked out well: the power was restored some time after 6pm and we we returned to a warm house about 7.30pm ready to start the Sunday evening ironing. Let’s hope the worst of it is now over. I know we got off lightly compared to some poor folk: a house just round the corner now has one of the majestic Scots Pines lying on their garage roof. A lucky escape for us it seems, this time.
