Ashdon Halt
Ashdon halt is near Church End on the Saffron Walden branch line in North Essex. The railway opened on the 23th November 1865 but the halt didn't appear until 1911. The railway and halt closed on 7th September 1964.
The waiting room is an old Great Eastern Railway Carriage built in October 1883 as GER No.342. and withdrawn from traffic on 31st December 1915. At 130 odd years old and abandoned for 50 years it's incredible that there is anything left of of it.
I thought it would make a good subject for Mono Monday.
The extra is a view of the busy M11 at Ickleton, still closed this morning because of fears that the roof of the IWM building at Duxford was damaged by Storm Ciara and might fly off onto the motorway. The motorway is now open again.
