Washout
Maputo is having some rare lingering wet weather. It’s welcome as there is frequent talk of Cape Town-style water shortages, not including the current water rationing caused by the collapsed pipe. I believe my building has enough of a reserve tank but I still braced myself for today’s shower in case I was greeted by empty plumbing. Luckily, I felt water cascading over my skin. It’s not fantastic to be sweaty and gagging for a shower, and to be thwarted.
I had a couple of useful external meetings and was late for lunch I’d arranged with Annette, a new friend I met at a party. I think we’re going to get on famously.
I did also have a conversation with someone who was flying somewhere in a few days. Coronavirus was mentioned and he dismissed it on the basis that no one has yet died of it. I did wonder whether he was normally to be found living under a rock.
