Auguries

Sleep Over

No party for his tenth birthday, just a couple of friends over for dinner and a sleepover. The first time we have attempted this since he turned 7, and although the boys are more mature, the exuberance and energy levels are much higher. The two early risers (who are having a competition to see who wakes first) came out and begged us to enforce some quiet from the third, most exuberant party. He is sorely missed, having moved to a new school, but hopefully they will be capable of enjoying each other's company tomorrow.

Still, the giggles accompanying the endless pillow fight were worth bottling, and now I think I detect quiet!

Will I have the energy to conjure up griddle cakes before work tomorrow, and how will my husband, weary of school holiday play dates fare?
