Amazing Grace

Tonight we were at FilmStudio to see the film Amazing Grace, where Aretha Franklin sings for two evening in a relatively small church, recording for her album of the same name. It really was amazing! You can read about it on Wikipedia, or in one of three articles in The Guardian. It is brilliant on so many levels, as a time capsule (1972), as a film of worship in action, as a music film. Go and see it if you have the chance!
But the title doesn’t just refer to the film. Around lunchtime we were sitting and eating when two roe deer walked down the hill, really close to the house. This isn't uncommon but we always get a bit excited when these wild creatures wander past.  However, later in the day we were amazed to see a much more unusual animal walk by. Jan got her first sight, and me my second, of a lynx, as it walked across the top of the field and then into the forest behind the house. This lynx was big, very relaxed, and just walked by. It paused when it realised it was being watched by two rapt humans, and then just continued its stroll into the trees. It felt like amazing grace that we had been granted these moments.
Jan blipped the lynx, and also wrote about the film.
The photo today, not in the least dramatic, is of the upstairs bedroom in The Red House, prepared for one of the visitors. There's a big star hanging in the window and that's what is casting that interesting shadow.
Yesterday’s repaired radiator was working perfectly!
