FINALLY....
..... the rain stopped for a good part of the day - so we were able to head back home (the long way still)!!
Took Alice to school, and Hayley to pre school, so that was plus, and on our way home went via the mighty Nepean River to check the flooding.
This pic shows a new boat ramp recently completed, and as you can see the water has already started to recede, but approximately the level came up about 6 metres. Check a couple of others starting here on Flickr.
It was a good trip back, in dry conditions, taking the normal two hours and bit.
When we got back home went to check the mighty Hawkesbury River and the cause of the long drive..... have a look here - you can get an idea - but this one shows the metre pole, and the mud on the road which is the peak level at about 10.5 metres over.
This being Monday arvo and thankfully by late arvo on Tuesday it had dropped and the clean up enabled it to open to traffic again.
Apparently the best flood since 1992 here, and overall, this time last week our Sydney catchment dams supplying water were at 40% and we were on restrictions - today the levels have risen to 70% and still going in, and we are still getting rain.
AND, of course the best part.... ALL fires are out, as the rain has been really wide spread, also helping in a lot of the drought areas of our vast continent. So, as many times before over the decades, we see these patterns repeated.
Finally, back a short while I mentioned one of our mates across the "ditch" in New Zealand Jillian of Daring2go sent a link with a timetable to pray for rain to quench the fires.... WELL.... it sure shows the "power there"... thanks again Jillian. Why not pop over and congratulate her as she has a special Blip day as well.
Have a look in LARGE and I will continue to catchup with back Blips - have done one for yesterday.
