Grab the bull by the horns .....
What a day ! Rain / sleet on top of ice made the yard like a skating rink first thing, then this afternoon it was tipping it down on and off so now everywhere is waterlogged and the yard is a morass of mud.
It didn’t help that I spent the afternoon sorting out 18 blks for next week’s sale which churned up things again.
Yesterday’s 15 heifers sold quite well until you deduct the 3.75% commission and £12-£15 per skull haulage. But that’s life.
Loopy Luna the spaniel/ lab went home tonight. For her first stay I think we got on quite well . She came back to me most of the time and wasn’t as timid as when she arrived on Sunday. She put the terrier’s nose out of joint though as he is used to being top dog.
However once she went home he was soon back to normal. One of the bullocks caught his horn on the feed barrier and skinned the shell off it today. It didn’t take his lordship long to find it and stake his claim . Should keep him chewing tonight anyway.
