Laying The Golden Egg
I went for a gander up and down the streets of Altrincham today, to check-out some laser-cut granite artwork seating.
Goose Green was once a tiny hamlet over 200 years ago, maybe associated with an old Goose fare or market that had sprung up, like so many others in the UK. Like a game of Monopoly, the area was bought-up and marketed years ago by a property developer, although it has retained its own sense of place since. Public art and street furniture unsurprisingly references a ‘Goosey-Goosey’ theme, but has worn well.
Sad to see most of the independent small shops, including a really lovely delicatessen, now long gone. Mainly bars and restaurants in their place, that am guessing can better afford the higher rates and rents. Progress or gentrification, which ever-way you want to look at it.
