Simply traditional

3.30 alarm call - but it has its advantages. BA had a very good team on the Gatwick to Funchal flight and, although the captain warned that it would be “bumpy and a bit unpleasant” as we were battered on take off by Storm Dennis, it was a delight to arrive by 10.30.

Blue sky. Sunshine. My favourite island, Madeira, just looked stunning. 

A swim. A pastel de nata and I feel at home.

My first night is in the traditional Quinta just down the road from my timeshare apartment. It doesn’t have the stunning luxury, but it has a true charm. I move to the usual place tomorrow.
