This dovecote was originally an early 18th century vaulted tower windmill located on the outskirts of the village of Monkton- a site of an Iron Age hillfort in South Ayrshire. It was a familiar part of my childhood as my primary school was located close by and I see it regularly on my trips back to  Ayrshire.
