One can know the whole world
Here's a short verse from the Tao Te Ching, a classical collection of sayings from the fourth century B.C., which is attributed to a contemporary of Confucius called, Lao Tzu.
A philosophy of meekness is espoused as the surest path to survival - much of it clearly completely forgotten in today's modern world :-(
The pictured copy is my 1987 reprint of the original 1963 translation by D.C.Lau ... I bought this in London in July 1988, and have never tired of reading it:
XLVII
Without stirring abroad
One can know the whole world;
Without looking out of the window
One can see the way of heaven.
The further one goes
The less one knows.
Therefore the sage knows without having to stir,
Identifies without having to see,
Accomplishes without having to act.
