Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2020 Sunday — Family

Our granddaughter Desiree (our son’s daughter) sent a text to ask if we wanted to meet halfway for lunch (she lives in San Diego and her hubby is deployed with US Navy). She was so caught-up with birthday weekend (today is Tristan’s 13th birthday) that she had not remembered that we are on the Central Coast.

So I encouraged her to reach out to her Uncle John, her uncle by marriage, our former son-in-law, and a man who has been like a daddy to her.

She wasn’t sure about doing that; she has been out of touch with our daughter’s side of our family for several years (long story).

Anyway, I reminded her that John has loved her like a daughter. Hours later as we were driving toward SLO to see our friend, Dorothy, at her parents ranch, John sent a couple photos as he was having lunch with Des and the 3 kids in Murrieta.

We did not know until then if Des had reached out. John's photos were a special blessing. Mr. Fun phoned him tonight and John told him that after lunch they all walked through the Murrieta Mall. Little Jade grabbed John’s hand and walked him to the Disney Store where he bought her several Disney dolls. I know it was a very special moment for John and for Jade.

Each Wednesday John stops early at his daughter Ashly’s house to get Little RJ and he takes him to work. John is a fabulous grandpa. We are blessed.

After we returned to Cayucos, the two of us walked to the 3rd St beach lookout.
