The Other Side.
One of the last parts of the bathroom renovation was to try and refurbish the old, dirty, antique, apparently brass (-plated see below) door knob. I took the plate and my sander with some 200 grit sandpaper, and started to "clean."
Soon, I realized that all the grit, and brass, were gone, and there was a brushed nickel sheen beneath. No brass. I decided I may as well do the dame to the knob and proceeded to "sand" it until the majority of fake brass and dirt were gone.
Luckily, most of the new fixtures are chrome or some sort of "brushed" metal. Luckily my co-renovator thought it looked good too. Whew...
But, a boring door knob is just that. Refurbished or not. So I set up a flash on the other side of the door, turned off all the lights (except for a night light) and fired the flash remotely through the key hole. A semi long exposure allowed the knob to be lit by the night light, and the flash appears as a starburst.
