Rave in the Cave
The rain has been relentless since mid morning. We had agreed with the teenagers that we would be out of the house early and they managed to stick to it so that we were out of the house before 10. As Alice hasn’t been to The Lakes before, we visited a few of the more popular places which were easy to drive to and didn’t need a huge hike to get to. Despite all of their enthusiasm when we booked the holiday, the teenagers have turned out to be less than enthusiastic about any walk longer than 200m which doesn’t have food or drink at the end of it.
First stop on our tour was Aira Force. The waterfall was looking good after all the rain. Next we went to Grasmere and bought gingerbread and had lunch. Finally we drove to Cathedral Caves where there was a big group of young people who looked like they were on a geography field trip. By this time the rain was torrential and we were all cold.
We came back to the house for a couple of hours then D and I went out to buy food and had a couple of drinks in The Crafty Baa, our favourite Windermere pub.
D cooked and we’re now attempting to play the only board game in the house which incidentally has no instructions.
