My goodness the weather is so changeable after yesterday's cold and blustery weather today was warm and sunny without a cloud in the beautiful blue sky. So we took to the sunbeds for the last time in Cape Town.
We received good news during the morning that our visa application for entry into Zambia had been accepted.
The email read:-
Dear Mr./Ms. Anthony
We are glad to inform you that your visa application for Zambia has been approved. Please print the attached document and attach it with your original documentation.
Applicant: Belcher, Anthony
Passport ID: 506634173
Thank you very much for trusting us! We wish you a great trip.
Kind regards,
Customer Service Dept.
Good news indeed the only problem it's difficult to attach the visa to the original documentation as there isn't any. Still they've got our cash and we got our visa's.
Oh dear I've found out that I've been ripped off with the cost of the visas as unbeknown to me I got connected to one of these sites that looks as if it's the official site and charges a lot more for the privilege of them fronting the official site. Still the visas look right so fingers crossed we should be OK. After checking in on line and with the visas and boarding passes printed by Catherine the smiling helpful hotel Receptionist it's all systems go for tomorrow.
Ros was also keeping busy by arranging afternoon tea at a nice hotel for my Birthday treat. My Birthday isn't until tomorrow but as we're flying there won't be time for any grand celebration. The first hotel came back confirming her booking but added that they expected smart casual dress and as we only have T shirts shorts and pink crocs we decided to give them a miss. Ros continued looking and found the Cape Grace Hotel an even nicer hotel on the Waterfront. I think my following review written on Google sums up well our time there:-
My wife arranged for high tea at the Cape Grace Hotel as a Birthday treat. We are travelling as Backpackers in South Africa for eight weeks so are carrying the minimum amount of clothes so we thought our T shirts shorts and crocs may possibly be out of place in such a nice hotel. Far from it we were given a most warm welcome and shown to our table overlooking the harbour with a smile. The high tea was lovely an assortment of savouries, finger sandwiches, savoury scones with grated cheese and of course the mandatory fresh scones strawberry jam and thick cream. There were plenty of other sweet delicacies too. We started with a glass of fizz with the savouries then moved to the black tea which was served in a glass teapot with a glass tea strainer to hold the thickly cut tea leaves. The teapot stood on a glass base which was warmed by a burning candle. The whole ritual of making the tea was a joy to behold, lovely. We whiled away two hours eating, drinking and watching the boats and wildlife on the water. All in all a great Birthday treat. And thank you to all the pleasant and friendly
staff for making it an afternoon to remember. Thank you all.
After tea we ambled along the Waterfront for the last time. We have thoroughly enjoyed it here and it's sad to think that we will never come here again as our mother is to is 'never go back' as a second visit is never as good as the first.
We stopped for another glass of fizz at a bar before summoning an Uber home. We had an early night because we need to get up bright but not early tomorrow.
