The dropped stitch

Fresh air

It was blowing a gale, but bright and sunny, so a walk seemed a good idea. The tide was too high to walk along the beach, so we took the very muddy path round the coast. Large areas of the grass are churned up, where the cattle have gathered, so a certain amount of leaping and detouring was necessary to avoid particular colours of 'mud'.

Exhilarating to watch the breakers. A wild sea crashing onto the stoney shore. In the distance the sea spray reached high up the cliffs.

We strode out with grand plans of a circular route.

Some time later, heads down and battling into the wind, we slowly made our way back to the car... along the same path! Discouraged by water-logged paths, the freezing, buffeting wind and a 'beware of the bull' sign that blocked our planned route, all of a sudden getting home became the main priority.
