Festival of Sail backblip
I'm going a long way back with this one - I had stopped posting on my previous private journal but wanted to post this somewhere! It was the first 'Festival of Sail' at Charlestown - the new owners (one of whom is Tim Smit of Heligan and Eden fame) organised it and lots of ships came in. There were huge crowds. We wanted to go back a couple of days later to see all the ships go out again but they sneaked out at dawn with no publicity and no watching crowds - it seems that they could not recruit enough stewards to be there for 'health and safety' for the crowds. Ironically, someone fell off the harbour wall a day after it was all over and there were no 'events' going on.
