... I think. He or she looked quite mottled and was watching a magnificent full grown bald eagle soaring over the surrounding woods. Apparently the plumage of their head and tail feathers transition to white during the first five years. Fledglings may stay with a parent for a couple months to perfect their flying skills, and are already large at this point.
