A Bevy of Bodies

Today we went for a hike into the Abel Tasman National Park which is only 10 kms away from Kaiteriteri. We treked to Appletree Bay, a distance of 11 kms return. There we had our lunch and my grand-daughter, Emily, aged nine, had a swim. She is a really good swimmer, a water baby. There was a stiff sea breeze blowing and it kept the heat of the day at a mangeable level.
A bevy of bodies, beautiful young people, had gathered at the northern end of this long beach where there was more shelter. They were from all around the world, enjoying hiking in our smallest National Park.
The sand on this beach is a much paler shade of gold than it is at Kaiteriteri and of course the midday sun bleaches the colur out somewhat.
The green edifice in the background is a toilet/lavatory/convenience/loo/Long-drop...call it what you may. It was inhabitied by half a dozen very active wasps. Only the very brave or very desperate venture there and no one lingers.
We returned to Marahau, the village at the beginning of the Park, and enjoyed coffee at the famous Park Cafe. We will be doing some more treks into the Park later in the week.
