Ambermere Fireplace

I've blipped Ambermere  before - this time another visit for a great lunch today and a shot of one of the original kitchen fireplaces used for cooking in the coaching inn days.

The kitchens were typically built separately from the main inn to keep the heat of cooking in the summer away from the main building and in recognition of the fact that the kitchens occasionally caught fire. This has happened here and the two brick fireplaces are all that remain of the original kitchen.

They have been left standing and are now used to cook creative spit roasts on the monthly Sunday long lunches under the trees in the paddock out the back, accompanied by music from local musicians.
