A girly day out with The Exile and Party Girl to Ikea in Exeter today! I went looking for a new sofa for my kitchen. We dropped Oscar and Ginger at doggy respite to chase pheasants in the field first thing then all gathered at mine. Party Girl was driving which I had been anxious about as she is rather fast and erratic!  I was right to be worried! She accelerated and braked really sharply so I got motion sickness along with the cold in my sinuses! By the time we arrived I felt really nauseous! First stop was the cafe where I had a delicious sweet potato pie with cashew butter! Then energised we went sofa shopping! They liked a horrendous 70's looking sofa - telling me it was fashionable! It didn't look good back then and still doesn't in my eyes! Plus telling me something is "fashionable" is guaranteed to make me say no! I told them I did style not fashion! I finally found one I liked and they did too - only I insisted the colour was grey/black and they said it was green. A little later they asked if I was joking and I said no and dragged Party Girl back to prove I was right - I held one of the cushions up to a window and against other black items then checked the colour swatches - it was green!! A sludgy alligator green!But it also came in a lovely blue so I will get both colours!
After deciding on the sofa I was finished! So the rest of the time was spent looking at desks, chairs and rugs for The Exile! I was feeling pretty awful with my cold which actually made a perfect antidote to the spending of money on things you never realised you wanted till you saw them! I did succumb to a new duvet and lovely red cover! My duvet does not cover the bed but I have covers that are larger than the duvet and in which I get tangled every night! I also bought a cushion I'd seen the last time I visited over a year ago - so hardly an impulse buy! 
All shopped out we headed for home, I snapped this guy who was travelling the elevator in style! Once home feeling nauseous once more I had a reviving cup of ginger and lemon tea then picked up The Exile to get the dogs! The woman said she'd tried to keep them clean and dry, which I think meant they didn't get an afternoon run as Oscar mithered me to go out shortly after we got home! 
I will order the sofa come the end of week 4 of the kitchen - at some point I may do another trip to Ikea but I will wait till the kitchen is done and I get settled into using the new space  before making any further decisions on what I need/want!
