Silly Saturday!
Needless to say, we have a lot of Mum-in-Law's possessions to sort through following her death last Saturday, and this one came to mind when I was pondering my Silly Saturday blip today.
It was given to my late Father-in-Law when he was terminally ill with cancer almost 30 years ago, and for many years afterwards our sons loved to get it out whenever we visited Mum-in-Law.
We'll certainly treasure it for the memories which it brings back, although it does look as if it could do with a wash & brush up!
Thanks as always to admirer for hosting Silly Saturday.
PS Late this afternoon we went to The Sage, by the River Tyne, to see the Knife Angel. Photos have been posted on blip already - I know of one by Dollydoug (with a collage as an extra) and two by DavidP (here & here). I've added mine as an extra, showing a close-up of the head. The official website of the Knife Angel (it's touring round the country) states, "The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades, was specifically created to highlight the negative effects of violent behaviour whilst solidifying our critical need for social change. Not only does the Angel act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it is also acts as a beautiful memorial designed to celebrate those lives who have been lost through these violent and thoughtless actions." It's a very moving sculpture.
