Thing

I caught up with a friend today. I haven’t seen her in years. It was like we’d seen each other last week. I love friends like that.

We wandered round Ely, browsing in the shops and the antiques place. We were in there for ages – so much tat to see.

This item caught my eye, and I wondered what it was. At first, I thought it was a pencil case, but on closer inspection, I realised it was rigid. Then I thought it was wood, but it was cold ceramic. Then I looked at the label: it’s a ‘Thing’. Of course!
