Old Friends
What a day! We started early at the Desert Botanical Gardens (see some shots in extra) and after a quick lunch, we headed to the Riparian Preserve where I got this shot of an Anna's hummingbird. I had been here once before on a Blipmeet a few years ago and was very happy to get back here again. Late afternoon we headed over to the Phoenix Art Museum and caught an Ansel Adams exhibit and finally headed to Old Town Scottsdale for dinner.
A photographer friend of mine from high school picked up on Facebook that I was in the Southwest so we had made plans to meet for dinner. Coincidentally earlier today, a friend of my husband's from high school noticed on Facebook that he was in Phoenix and contacted him because she and her husband are visiting here also so we invited them to join us for dinner. It was all quite spontaneous with me only knowing my friend, and my husband only knew his, and neither of us had ever met the spouses. We had a marvelous evening. We were all on the same page politically which is far more important these days than it ever was before. Politics always come up as we are all quite disturbed, anxious and obsessed with our current sad state of affairs. Nevertheless, we had excellent Mexican food, a delicious Margarita or two, and chattered away for hours.
My friend from high school is the extraordinary photographer, Jody Forster, whose work is found in a number of galleries in the southwest. Jody still shoots film with a large format camera, but is considering switching to medium format digital. If you have a chance, take a look at his work HERE.
