Judging 4H speeches

In classic Canadian prairie fashion, the local minister, (me) is asked to be on the judging panel for the 9-11 year old 4H speeches, while the ladies national curling championship is on TV. This provided some tense moments as the lady judge beside me kept updated on the scores from her husband who was texting her.

Don’t know if it could get more rural Canadian than that.

The speeches? They were really quite amazing for that age category. And it was hard work deciding the best and the not best. Pretty intense.

It was a good day in the community.
