Another largely grey and windy day - unfortunately I missed the one bright spell doing some chores in town.

Once again, most of the day was spent at the computer, forced by looming deadlines, but I did manage half-an-hour in the garden, planting a new Primula and doing some weeding. It all looks a bit chaotic, as we haven't yet managed to deal with the consequences of last week's tree management. Every day has either been too wet or too windy for a bonfire.

Nevertheless there are plenty of signs of spring, with the forsythia and flowering currants coming  into bloom, and many clumps of the tiny 'Tete-a-tete' daffodils now at their best. I can see why they have an RHS Award of Garden Merit - they're reliable and have coped well with all the wind and rain, which has left many taller daffodils looking battered.

Sarah returned from Prague today, and she and Ben cooked an amazing roast dinner for us - duck with orange sauce, cauliflower cheese, kale sprouts, caramelised carrots and some of the best roast potatoes I've ever eaten followed by a delicious carrot cake. It was a lovely evening, though I definitely felt very full at the end of it!
