Honoured to see a Bearded Vulture

.... and sit for an hour above the ski tracks that lead to Anzeindaz, just observing and wondering at the beauty of this magestic bird with a 3m wingspan. They were totally exterminated in 1886. A reintroduction programme started in 1986 and there are now about 200 in the whole Alpine range and a dozen breeding pairs in Switzerland. I know that there is a "ménage à trois", two females and a male in the next valley but this one was definitely interested in the chamois herds in the Anzeindaz Valley today. They can only scavenge, they cannot kill, so maybe he was trying to frighten one over the edge of a cliff! See extra, for this interaction I have never seen before! I put another extra in to show how they are camouflaged on the cliffs when they go down.

Nexya says thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments, hearts and stars. She is normally quite shy but enjoyed being in the limelight today!
