York Medals

Not a good day today.  Overnight snow followed by heavy rain caused all the rivers around Hebden Bridge to rise rapidly sparking real concerns of more floods.
It was touch and go for most of the day, but now the Flood Wardens have reported all the rivers in our valley appear to have peaked and the levels are slowly dropping.
Because of the forecast we elected to remain at Maison MD for the day.
I delved into my trusty box of treasures for a Blip and came up with this set of Commemorative Medals struck for York's 1900 Anniversary, which was in 1971.  I doubt I'll see the 2000 Anniversary Event :-)

Breaking News:  I've just heard two lanes of the M62 Eastbound are closed at Windy Hill (Junctions 22 to 23) because of an overturned lorry - carrying crushed glass!  7 mile queues and around 2 hour delays.  This means traffic is diverting through Todmorden and Hebden Bridge.  The A646 through the valley is therefore gridlocked.
What a day - I'm so glad we're home, warm and dry and with a glass of 'restorative' readily to hand :-)
