Jury Duty
...”..of the people, for the people, by the people....”. I saw the justice system in action today as I reported for jury duty at the beautiful King County courthouse in Seattle at 8:00 am ( not easy for me) , an inconvenience for many but a duty most of us are glad to participate in. Hundreds of just regular people in a big room all looking at their phones or computers, waiting to get called for a jury. It took all day to choose ours with so many questions by the lawyers of both sides.., . I’ve done this several times (see sept 2010 Here)) but was not upset to NOT get chosen today. :-) Must admit I do not like lawyerspeak, but it makes one think . The entrance to this building was closed in December due to violence on the street... there is a big police presence there.... but not crowded today....it’s such a beautiful building inside and out.....this is one of the Douglas Cooper murals (graphite on paper over board, ) that tells the story about "from these hills, from these waters” ..you can see Lake Union and the hills south of it here....All the hallways are covered with marble. ( 3rd extra..on the 8th floor))
Extras... the 4th ave entrance and one block away., .. where I went for coffee at lunch, the city hall and Columbia center with the iPhone wide angle.
