LITTLE WHEENY CREEK....

.... some time back a neighbour who knows the area "backwards" mentioned there were Platypus in a local creek!
Of course my eyes lit up, and we arrange that one day "after rain" we would explore. The Creek flows most times as it starts form a Spring at the base of the Blue Mountains not far from where we were.
Well today was the day and off we went to find one of the "classic" Aussie animals, a Platypus thanks to Wiki.

Really an interesting area, with the creek at the base of a small valley and  hiding by heavy vegetation. The filtered light gave some amazing light and tones.

Sadly on this occasion no Platypus but can see why they would be around here, and now I know where I can venture back again.
Some other pics here on FLICKR - all in all a super arvo. The first couple of pics show how this side of the creek "Back When" was used to divert water through large rock formations to a local Mill down the creek a way!

It really does have some History - check here the article written by "my guide today"
The creek runs around 15 kilometres before joining Wheeny Creek.

Enjoy and have a look in LARGE - I only had the Big Gun as knew we were going to be above the creek, so hand held, thought this worked okay!
