Melville Monument

Had time for a very quick visit to St. Andrew Square (in the City Centre) earlier today (weather much brighter than yesterday).

The snap is of the Melville Monument, which is "one of the most prominent landmarks in the city, but unlike the Scott Monument, for some reason it rarely features in classic views of Edinburgh" ...

... the column of the Melville Monument is actually almost exactly the same height as Nelson's Column (in London) - but here in Edinburgh, it does indeed get far less attention than its Southern-cousin ;-)
