Carnavaaaaaaaal
Mid morning I had a call from a social worker friend who needed a sleeping bag and warm clothes for a friend of ours who is recently homeless again. Thankfully had pretty much everything that was needed. Good to see the lady and to have a catch up with Natasha, the SW.
Straight on to school with Danny - today was Asha's Carnaval day. The theme was the Olympics, so each class had a sport to dress as, Asha's was weightlifting. The police shut the local streets and the whole school paraded round. Lovely to see a Roma friend who lives in this area, watching from her doorstep.
Asha had yet more disappointment this evening when a friend said she'd take Asha and her daughter to the library....the time came and went and nothing...then much later she said she'd decided against it. Poor Asha was so disappointed, bless her... We made earrings for friends to cheer her up, it did the trick.
Today I'm grateful for;
1) A catch up with Natasha...glad to have someone so wonderful working inside the system...and to have such a mutually beneficial partnership with her.
2) The joy of the school Carnaval...so much colour, sound and fun!
3) That making things for others brings Asha joy. She made earrings for each of the school moms we'll see tomorrow...thinking about what colours and styles she thought they might like...
