City Garage, Salado
The old City Garage in Salado (sah-lay-doe), Texas, Bell County. Salado is a small artists' community and tourist destination. Some very nice art galleries, plenty of tourist oriented shops with "craft"-like items from very nice to very junky. Salado is also home to the Stagecoach Inn, which was once just that, a stagecoach stop. The menu at the restaurant remains fundamentally that which it was when serving tired and dustry stagecoach travelers nearly 150 years ago traveling along the famous Chisholm Trail. The menu is still given verbally to guests. Former guests at the Stagecoach Inn include General Robert E. Lee, General George Custer, Sam Houston, and the James and Younger brothers (well-known western outlaws).
Here's a photo of the City Garage at night, with some great neon (taken some time ago with a P&S camera.)
