2020 Tuesday — Patricia
Patricia has been more than a friend for a very long time. She has been like a mom to me.
She entered this board & care facility just after the first of this year. Sometime in late November she was placed in the hospital because of a problem with her hip. Then she was moved to a rehab facility.
Finally her daughter announced that the doctor said that Patricia could no longer live at home. She and her daughter (& son-in-law) all purchased a brand new beautiful home together about 5 years ago. Patricia had a lovely area of her own downstairs and her daughter & son-in-law have the huge upstairs, but they are both gone all day every weekday because they are school teachers. So Patricia was home alone too much of the time.
So at 88 years of age she is making the best of her situation. It is difficult to watch her aging; she’s been a ball of energy and a go-getter for all the years that we have known her.
With Patricia we talked about many memories and lots of friends (with the help of photos on our phones). We showed her pictures of our grandkids and talked and laughed and hugged and prayed together. She is an amazing woman.
She mentioned how very much she enjoys visitors and said she really misses attending church. She said, “I’m happy and I have nothing to complain about.”
It was a blessing to spend time with her.
