Ash Wednesday
I had a message this morning from my friend Elizabeth about a DBWC seminar at the Dubai Chamber. It was a short, two-hour session on a Small Claim Tribunal that has been set up at DIFC Courts. It sounded interesting so I opted in. Elizabeth picked me up, and I'm glad I went because it was interesting to hear about all the new things being done to help settle disputes of "small" amounts.
Elizabeth very kindly dropped me to work. G picked me up and we both got on with things on our to-do lists before heading to a meeting at Holy Trinity to practice for the upcoming World Day of Prayer. That went well. We have a great team of very committed ladies. We finished around 5 pm, and I wish I had remembered the day, as what happened next really brought it all home.
It is, of course, Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. St. Mary's, the Catholic Church about one hundred and fifty metres away was beginning to get busy with people going to church. We were sat in our car for over twenty minutes, not moving at all. I don't know what was happening, but it took ages to get on our way home.
We had enough time for a small snack before we had to head back to the same area, this time to the Norwegian Centre for the Salvation Army service. That was great. So pleased we went, as we had a service relevant to where we are in the calendar. My blip is of the Viera family. I just couldn't resist getting my camera out and taking this shot. The kids are so good with being part of the service. They stand and help lead the singing, both have very strong voices. It's too sweet!
